In Memory of Coach Gary Fowler
Each season a Bowie varsity player is selected to wear #8 in his honor. At the end of each season, the varsity honors one of its own with an award bearing his name. All Dawg fans should know why.
To those who knew Gary Fowler he was a heroic example of strength and courage in the face of adversity. You can read Coach Fowler’s own words in this article he wrote for publication as he battled brain cancer, as well as this remembrance written by his wife Nancy.
Not long before his death on October 23, 2003, Coach Fowler, a passionate golfer, kidded his wife that his goal was to play golf all day, every day. So it is fitting that each year the Bowie Baseball Family “tees it up” at the Annual Gary Fowler Golf Classic to honor his memory and support the baseball program he loved. We hope you will join us at the next tournament.
